Gorilla Babies (Day 23)

Gorilla babies and juveniles are so cute, playful, and curious. They stole the show! There was one baby who was just a few months old. Here she is on mommy’s back.

Here, a gorilla juvenile (maybe 2 years old) practices eating a branch.

The family interactions were so human. Here, a young gorilla wants to play with dad, who is trying to eat. He shoos the child away, and the child goes to mom, who picks him up.

Later, the child tries to get mom’s attention while she is napping.

Bored and with no one to play with, the youngster amuses himself with a backwards somersault and then checks us out.

Another time, the little one tries to figure out how to climb down some vines. His technique needs work…

With their playful nature and their need to wrestle, the young gorillas reminded us of Huey (or Jamie as a kid). Here, 2 juveniles wrestle, and the victor climbs a vine.
